When three University Place teachers took the stage at the Tuscaloosa elementary school’s end-of-the-year talent show, their students were sitting politely in rows.
But by the end of the dance montage, none of the students could contain their excitement, leaping to their feet to dance and sing along.
Their excitement is infectious to watch and led a parent’s video of the performance to go viral, with more than 100,000 shares on Facebook and topping 5 million views.
“It makes me very happy that people have been able to see the wonderful rapport that students and faculty have at University Place,” Natalie Keen, a third grade teacher and one of the dancers, said.
Keen said she and two other colleagues decided to do a dance montage to specifically include popular songs their students liked.
“We always like to show the students a glimpse into our personal lives due to the fact they like to know just as much about us as we do about them,” she said. “It is fun to participate as well as entertain the students by showing them a different side to us.”
They even asked for critiques and dance lessons out on the playground while they prepared.
